The Hardy monument, Dorset

The Hardy Monument is on the summit of Black Down in Dorset, erected in memory of Vice Admiral Sir Thomas Hardy, a commander at the Battle of Trafalgar. Admiral Hardy lived in nearby Portesham. He may be better remembered as it was to him that Admiral Lord Nelson said, as he was dying aboard The Victory, "Kiss me Hardy".
